After the last “Dispatch” the view from my living room changed as the backhoe went right to work installing a new water fountain for Reno. The first step was to find the existing water line (7 feet underground) so that we could connect to it. Afterwards, Doug worked his way across the back yard digging the trench while I placed the water line in and used the skidsteer to backfill. There was no shortage of rocks as we dug.
I added a hydrant just outside the pasture as a back-up, or just a convenient place to get a drink. When the trench was filled, I put down a slab and mounted the fountain to it. The heater got installed yesterday, and I still have a light I would like to put up for those dark winter evenings when the sun sets before “chore time”.
Hasn’t been all work though. Had what was probably the last “Sunday Ride” at Tom and Korrys. Tom was the photographer and he did a good job getting shots of Katie, Bonnie, Me and Reno. Don’t know who took it, but here’s a shot of Tom and Jessie as well. Afterwards, we had pizza and cocktails.
Still a lot I’d like to do (outside) before the snow flies. There’s firewood to cut, the motorcycle needs to be put away, and I want to wash up some of the farm machinery before it goes to sleep for the winter.
Brian was over yesterday working on the software for the Bison Cam and the Bird Cam (needs to be renamed the Reno Cam). They update every 30 minutes during daylite hours now. I’m working on a better time/date stamp for the future. Also, it’s time to do some sprucing up on geosledding so it’s in good shape for the snowmobile season.
Gonna call it quits for this one……..
