Managed to get that mailbox post Landon and I built “installed” for Jodi before the ground froze solid.  Jodi even got it painted on one of the last warm days.  Here’s a picture of the final product.  I think it should stand up to the plow pretty well this winter!

Finally got to pick up those new sleds…...I flew in from Sacramento on the 14th, and on the 15th Brian and I were at Simonars for the new machines.  Here’s Brian (on the right) checking out some of the features before we load ‘em up.  All the guys at Simonar’s really treat us well as they do all their customers.  I guess that’s why they’re the largest dealer in North America!  We put the new “twins” on the trailer, posed for a quick picture in my new hat, and headed for home.  The new sled is quite a bit different from my old ‘97.  It’s got 4” more track on the ground, about 20 more HP, fuel injection, reverse, and 15” of suspension.  It even sits quite a bit different.

Did a little riding…..some on nearby Rost Lake, and then a bit in Jodi’s pasture.  Remember the horse jump we built last summer?  Jodi dared me to try it and I couldn’t resist.  Then I had to do it once or twice more after she went for the camera.  Shoot! I forgot my helmet….A motorcycle safety instructor should know better than that, especially when jumping!  My first impression of the new sled is that the REV chassis is completely different from previous designs, and for the better.

Opened up the silage bag and was quite pleased.  Before I could though, I had to dig the bag and my trailer out of a snow bank (I’m not complaining!).  The bobcat makes short work of snowplowing.  The silage came out steamy from fermenting, just like it should.  These buffalo couldn’t resist cleaning up some that had spilled from the skid steer bucket.  I filled the bunk feeder, and hungry buffalo flocked to the treat.

Over the holidays we started working Jodi’s youngest horse, Dalsanto, with the winter sleigh.  Jodi loves driving horses and hasn’t had a good one for a while.  We’re hoping Dalsanto will be the next one.  He already wears the collar and blinders, and knows “gee” from “haw”.  We started hooking up the sled to get him used to pulling some weight.  I get to be the weight.  When she gets tired from leading “Daly” sometimes Jodi rides too.

Got that timestamp working on my webcams.  Check ’em out.  Now you can tell how current both the Bison Cam and the Bird Cam pics are.

That’s going to be it for now.  Even though our season got off to an early start we could sure use some more snow.  Only a couple more weeks to the Grand Marais ’500!

Ride safe!
