Well, now we need to get use to writing 2006 on everything.  So far, so good.  I’ve been watching my site stats and right now Tuesday/Wednesday seem to be the heavy traffic days.  I’m thinking if I can get a new “Dispatch” out every weekend, at least there would be fresh material once a week, before the mid-week rush.

I wish I had tons of snowmobiling pics with stories about all the mileage we’re piling up, but the truth is conditions only got worse as the Holidays progressed (like almost everywhere else).  Brian trailered up North a few times, probably spent as much time in the truck as on the trails.  At least he’s got some hours on his new sled.  I spent my time off catching up on farm chores and preparing for the “500”.

Here we go again!  We plan to leave Thursday morning and do our “500” from about noon Thursday till noon Friday.  We’ll catch up on sleep Friday, do some more leisurely riding Saturday, attend the final ceremonies, and head home Sunday morning.  The snow looks pretty decent up there, with a bit more predicted to accumulate before we arrive.

Besides a new sled, I’ve got new boots, pants, and jacket.  I’m quite a bit better dressed than I was last year, Brian and Jodi had to quit teasing me about my Carharts!  I’m probably quite a bit more waterproof than last year as well.

Built a new grate for Jodi’s wood stove.  When she moved in, we found 3/4 of the original one buried in the ash pan.  I welded together what we found, and it got us thru for a bit.  I took the info from the stove and quickly discovered they were out of business and that parts were not to be had.  Suddenly, building one from scratch seemed the easiest option.  I got some 1/4 inch angle iron and here’s what I came up with.  As of this writing, it’s working like a champ!  Now there’s just that troublesome fan motor……...

Think it’s gonna be a short one.  Not much from over the Holidays that you guys would be interested in….but I should have a lot of pics/material from our Grand Marais trip next week.

Ride safe!
