You probably noticed a different background on this “dispatch”. While it still leaves a bit to be desired, it’s closer to what I was originally going for...the burned/aged paper effect. I’m still not totally satisfied, but it’s a step in the right direction. I don’t have any pics for this post….in fact I don’t even have a lot of material, but I was anxious to see how this new background would look on the web.
The web cams keep getting snowier just about everywhere, and I can tell by the increased hits that snowmobilers are interested in seeing it. One of my favorites is the covered bridge in Old Forge, New York. Here in Ellisville, there’s been plenty of cold, but more snow would be welcome. Soon, Brian and I will be picking up the new Renegades and I’ll be sure to post a pic or to. With the ground well frozen, and at least a smattering of snow, there’s still time for a great snowmobile season…. even down here.
As far as the site (geosledding.com) goes, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. I’ve been collecting web cams, trail maps, and trail conditions for Canada and Colorado, so watch for those locations to show up soon. Usually I wait till I have most of my links, web cams, etc in place before I post an area, but since the season is well upon us (especially up North) I’ll just post what I have and add things later. Kind of like having company over while building your house. Also, I think that I finally found a program to timestamp my web cam postings, so watch for that soon. In case you haven’t been following the site, I have an unusual set-up in that I use IP addressable webcams (due to the distance from my computer), with a dial-up connection (high speed is still not available in my area). This has always been a headache in that most commercial software is for USB cameras and software that is compatible with “Ethernet” cameras generally assumes you have a high speed connection available.
Guess I do have a pic I can post. Jodi couldn’t resist “rescuing” this 5 month old Kitten. She calls her “Soffie”. That’s Jodi’s daughter Brittany holding our new addition. Jodi is partial to black and whites (also known as “Sylvesters” or “Tuxedo Cats”) and Soffie is a bit unusual in the amount of white she has. That brings the cat total to 9 (for now!). Thankfully, there is plenty of room for them to get exercise at Jodi’s place. Even on these winter days, they enjoy leaving the comfort of the wood burner in the basement for a romp out in the snow.
Ride safe!
