I know, I know, I really need to get out here and update this more often.  I almost fainted when I saw the hit counter, I guess somebody out there is interested in what’s going on around Northeastern Wisconsin!  Right now it’s both snowmobile and motorcycle season……….or neither…...depending on your point of view.

5 of us went from Lakewood to Antigo little over a week ago and had a pretty nice ride.  Brian and my niece Sue had gone up to meet Steve and his son AJ on a Tuesday evening, so that meant I had to drive up alone the following morning.  It was a bit foggy, but the roads were in good shape.  After we met up, fathers gave last minute instructions to the “newbies” and we were off.  We rode a bit towards Crooked Lake and I made everyone stop for this group photo.  From left to right that’s Sue, AJ, Steve, and Brian.  The nice thing about being photographer is that you don’t have to be in the pictures!

There had been a bit of fresh snow that week, and the trails were smooth and well groomed.  We rode west towards Antigo and I think we were somewhere between Elton and Polar when we stopped for lunch.  As we continued West the trails remained in excellent conditionSnapped a few shots as everyone fueled up in Antigo, and as usual we were farther from the trailer than we had planned to be this late in the day.

I snapped a shot of these intriguing “sheep” trail markers we came across just East of Antigo.  I don’t have any idea what their meaning is.  Can anyone help me out?  On the way back AJ stepped off the trail and discovered there was still plenty of snow remaining in the woods!

Haven’t been out much since, and quite honestly with spring chores and motorcycle classes just around the corner, I’m starting to lose snowmobile fever.  We always have an April snowstorm, so there’s the possibility of a ride or two yet this year, but we’re definitely closer to the end than the beginning.

For farm news, Sunday before last Boomer (our puppy) got kicked by Dalsanto and we almost lost him.  The vet has him on pain killers and steroids, and he’s improving every day, but he couldn’t even stand up the first 2 days after it happened.  He’s running around the yard now, but falls occasionally.  Hopefully he’ll make a total recovery in the next couple weeks.  Though he hasn’t proven real “horse smart” he gets along with all the other animals and is a real quiet and lovable little guy.

Ride safe!
