Text Box: The rain has subsided and things are beginning to dry out. We ended up with a total of 5 inches
the week of the last “Dispatch”. Now the lawn is growing like crazy. Looks like were in for a warming
trend, so the garden is moving up in priority on the work list. Been cleaning up the yard….and hauling off
brush like this has been quite common. I’ve got a pile as high as the skidsteer will reach.

Calf #3 showed up on the 16th, #4 on the 19th, and 2 more over the weekend. I’ve lost track of who’s who and which got their picture taken. Guess I’ll just report the score from now on. Sam, our Stallion, seems to be acclimating to his new home and family. He appears less stressed….and is putting on weight! The fencing project at Jodi’s creeps ahead, still waiting for some critical parts.

Slowed the consumption of suet cakes around here. Caught this bandit the other night and since I relocated him we went from 1 suet cake/day to 1 every 3-4 days! Enjoy your new home and say good-bye to those tasty, tempting midnight snacks!

The biggest news is probably the new 4 wheelers that Jodi and I got. We picked them up Wednesday evening, and though we’ve played around Jodi’s place a bit, we need to get out on the State trail system for a major shakedown and break-in ride. We got matching yellow Honda Rubicons. Though there are a lot of nice machines out there right now, the old Honda Foreman proved so reliable that I couldn’t bring myself to change brands.

I’ve added a thumbnail of the “Bison Cam” to the “Dispatch” with a link to the full-size page. I’ve gathered all the hardware required to move the camera closer to the corral. That will make watching the new calves grow much more interesting. Now, I just need to find the time to move it. That’s about it for now, but that’s enough! Spring around the ranch means lot’s to do and never enough daylight or dry weather.

Happy Trails!
