Text Box: MidSummer’s already gone and Fall is closing in as the days get shorter. In fact, it’s been
going by so fast there’s been no time to write!

My daughter Leigha and her step-sister Carly, have been out testing the new 4-wheeler.
It’s quite a bit nicer than the old one. I especially like that you don’t have to shift, and that
you can run in 2 wheel drive, making turning much easier. 4th of July weekend Jodi and I took her brother and sister-in-law on a ride from Breed up to Lakewood. Boy was it dry and dusty! It still is, and there’s a burning ban on for a good part of the state. Here’s a pic of Brian and Jodi at a rest stop. Our faces were black with dirt!

Hasn’t been all play though….Landon and I took the trailer up to my Cousin’s (Peshtigo Cedar Products) for a load of bark to use for landscaping. The trailer holds 20 yards so loading it along with the travel time, takes most of a day. It’s all emptied now, spread out around trees, on some walking paths, and along rows in the orchard.

Been wrenching too. The old Chevy got new shocks this month….after 200,000 miles I guess the old ones didn’t owe me much, and my motorcycle got new tires.

We had a heck of a hail storm up near Oconto Falls July 1st. Broke a lot of car windows along with damage to homes and trees. Quite some time after, we took a ride to see all the damage, and the hailstones were still as big around as my cell phone. There’s been more hail since, but I don’t think any of it caused nearly as much damage as that day. After that we survived a heat wave, several days at or approaching 100.

Been trying to log some miles on the motorcycle. Met Steve in Oshkosh last week and put on about 300 miles by time we were both “back in the barn”. We got near Montello so we made the required stop to visit the falls there. Got out again day before yesterday and rode about 350 miles before threatening skies sent me home from Steve’s house in Waukesha.

The last big project has been moving Leigha. Naturally the move fell during the hottest days, but two of her friends Andrew and Matt showed up to help. We got the worst of it done in one morning.

Hay Days is just around the corner, and after that the snow!
