Text Box: Almost another month gone by….and it’s been a mix of work and play (as it should be). You can
see the weeds/lawn drying up already, and the prevailing winds are more from the NorthWest
lately. We just need those “killing frosts” to knock down the bug population and my favorite time
of year will have arrived. The vegetables in the garden are all ripening at once, and the deer
are regularly checking the orchard for apples and pears that fall to the ground.

After all these years, there’s a clothesline up. I put it in before the recent rains, so digging a hole was like boring in concrete. There’s lots of stone here, and when the ground dries up, it gets pretty ugly. Here’s the completed project already being used to dry the kitchen rug.

Next I replaced some “temporary” (10 years) shelving in the garage with some cabinets. Now things stay cleaner when I’m cutting/grinding on my welding projects. Also looks a heck of a lot more organized!

Got out with the ATV the other day….rode from Gillett to Townsend. That’s pretty much the entire trail from South to North. Here’s a pic on the bridge just North of Suring. Later I stopped in Mountain for gas. Coming into Lakewood I pretty much had the trail to myself as it was a weekday. Finally, the trail ends at Townsend. I turned back thinking about how we’ll be snowmobiling on these same trails in just a few months, and how different the scenery is compared to winter. I loaded back up in Gillett, but the trail runs South a few more miles to Green Valley. I did 75 miles that day.

Also got out on Jerry’s boat to do a little Salmon fishing. The Salmon won that day. We had a Salmon and a Brown to show for our trip….not one of our better ones, but the weather was absolutely perfect that day to be out on the Bay.

Taking the ATV out again this afternoon, probably around the Crivitz area. And we’ve got a “rematch” scheduled on the Bay in 2 weeks.

Guess it’s time to start thinking about firewood….need to sharpen all the chains and give the woodsplitter a fall tune-up….
