Text Box: The weatherman is calling it the first snowstorm of the year, so it seems an appropriate
day for an update. As I left to deliver buffalo meat this morning the road looked like this.
The storm was mostly to the South, so it only got worse as I headed to Manitowoc. The
news just reported 6 inches here along the lakeshore, although there was significantly more
than that in Milwaukee and Chicago. I like the way it looks on the webcam. Motorcycles are
stored for the winter, so the sooner we get snowmobiling the better!

Got those fuel tanks installed and filled. I placed them in position with the skidsteer, and after a final grading, the finished result looks pretty nice. Even got a compliment from the Co-op when they came out to install the monitors and fill the tanks. Sure is nice fueling up right here in the yard instead of carrying 6 gallon cans for the skidsteer and tractor. Kind of a peace of mind too, knowing all that fuel is available for the generator during an emergency.

Lawn mowers, motorcycles, tiller, hoses, all put away for the winter. Tried something new on the mower decks this year. It’s a product called POR 15. I understand the professional landscapers use this stuff to protect their mower decks and keep the grass from sticking. It goes on like enamel, with a brush, but it’s nothing like paint at all. It dries to a rock-hard smooth surface that makes me think of black glass. I’ll try to remember to let you know how it works out next summer. I can’t imagine anything sticking to this stuff.

Jodi’s wood is all cut, split and stacked in her basement. After some “improvements” I was really happy with the way my home-made woodsplitter ripped thru some of the large Elm we had cut down at Jodi’s. One of the things I did was to add some grease fittings to the top and bottom of the “pusher”. I think we have the final design now. As we made wood I snapped this pic in the barn, it sort of reminded me of a truck commercial.

Reno’s been a pleasure to work with except for an incident where she jumped the fence Sunday before last. She did quite well with her first visit from the farrier. She’s learning to lead, put a bit in her mouth, getting familiar with having a blanket on her back, and we even had her going over some jumps last weekend. So far, so good. She seems to have adopted us as her new home and looks quite at ease in this picture with Dalsanto.

Watch for snow!
