Text Box: Not a lot exciting to write about, but I thought I would get an update in before
Christmas. Snowmobiling hasn’t even started “up North” yet, and it doesn’t look too
promising for the near future. From the news today, Denver got everyone’s share and
everything is still pretty much at a stand still there yet this evening. Well, somebody’s out
there riding tonight!

Brian and Dave came over and we put in a good afternoon on the woodpile. Got a bunch cut up and split. Probably one more good day would finish it for this year. The day after I took the tractor and filled the porch, so I’m pretty much ready for the snow. Just in case the weather was waiting for me :) The buffalo are pretty much wearing their full winter coats now, so they’re ready for nature’s worst as well.

Probably the big news is the new round pen. A round pen is just what it sounds like. It’s a portable 60’ diameter, 6’ tall “pen” for training horses. It’s hard for them to jump out or get hurt, so they tend to listen to what you are trying to teach them. It filled a good part of the trailer as the 12 panels are 6’ tall and 12’ long. We set a few panels together so that they could stand on their own, then Jodi took a break with the horses before we tackled the rest. It wasn’t too long before we had the entire circle set up. There are “latches” that interlock the panels without using any tools, so it’s rather simple and quick to assemble. Afterwards, the horses had to inspect this new intruder in their pasture. A few days later we had 30 yards of sand delivered, and I quickly spread it out with the skidsteer before it froze. Here’s a picture of the round pen all set up and ready to go.

Most of the animals seem to be enjoying the mild weather. Here’s 2 of Jodi’s “guard cats” getting a little fresh air. That’s Checkers near the house, and Autumn on the porch. The other 7 (yes seven!) were outside somewhere, but got a little camera shy. That’s “all the news that’s fit to print”, so I’ll wish everyone a Merry Christmas and go back to watching the weather and flipping thru the webcams trying to find that snow.

Merry Christmas!
