I know I’ve been very remiss updating this page.  The last two months have been crazy

with sick relatives, job changes, and a pretty bad case of poison oak for me!

I’ve been spending a lot of time on the road, and it’s been no “spring picnic”.  As the snow

and ice hung on, it presented some challenging driving conditions, causing a lot of problems on

the highway.  Later, after the snow was gone, there were still problems.  If you drive enough miles, you’ll always run into something interesting sooner or later.

At long last, Boomer and the cats are spending less time in the warmth and security of the basement and most of their days outside.  The squirrel who robbed the bird feeder all winter has moved on to setting up his summer home, and though I see him around the yard, there must be plenty to eat elsewhere (probably the corn cobs he stole all winter!)

The horses had some brief relief with no snow and a bit of nice weather, but the bugs are starting to show up.  Turns out Reno doesn’t do well with wood tics so Jodi’s been spraying her regularly.  They all went to the “dentist” this spring, except Legit, who was due to foal any day.  Last Friday, she had Lasago! so the horse count is up to 5 right now.  Both are doing well, and Lasago is busy checking out everything around the yard.  Last evening, we saddled up Reno in the round pen and got our first rides without the security of a lead rope.  She didn’t buck even once.

Another sure sing of Spring is that the first two Buffalo calves are here.  An April one this year was the earliest ever, followed by another in early May.

I spent a week in Janesville getting certified to teach the Harley Davidson Riders Edge Course.  Here, we anxiously await dinner.  Afterwards, our instructors (Deb & Leon) hand out awards, while Doug and Dennis express their approval.  I’ll be teaching the course for Vandervest Harley Davidson in Peshtigo.

Looks like things may soon return to a “normal” level of chaos with more time at home, and more time for things like gardening, horseback riding, and updating this page!
