Want to get a “dispatch” in before Labor Day. At least that keeps it at one per month. Lots of kids are back to school already, and the rest will be on Tuesday. Seems like yesterday we planted the garden, now the potato tops are drying out already. Won’t be long till the leaves turn color. The summer heat, along with a lack of rain, was hard on everything. At the right of this pic you can see the box fan Jodi put on the bunnies to keep them cool.
Lasago continues to grow (he’s gaining on his Mom pretty fast!). By spring he just might pass her. Reno found a porcupine one evening, so we pulled quills up to bedtime. By the looks of it, she tried to use the porky for a football. Hope she learned a lesson. It’s hard to tell a horse “just a few more”, and she got very impatient with us before we were done.
Jodi’s been working with a mini, teaching him to drive. His name is Elmo, and he was quite a pleasure to work with. Here’s Cynthia driving him, and her husband Darryl. Picked up on it right away, I think they’ve got a good little driving horse there.
A family of turkeys frequents the yard each morning, checking what the birds have pushed out of the feeders. There’s Mom, Dad, and 10 little ones. The bunnies like to pick thru the “spillings” as well. I snapped a photo one day as they cleaned up under the bird feeder.
Helped my brother and nephew put the motor back together in Dave's’ car. Here’s Dave proudly holding the rotor he forgot to put back in when we reassembled it. Took a few minutes to figure out why it wasn’t starting! After we put the rotor in, it started right up and ran like a top!
Going to keep it short as I need to pack. We’re taking the horses to the Southern Kettle Moraine area for the Labor Day weekend.
Hope you had a great Summer!
