Did our Labor Day “Horse Camping” down in Southern Kettle Moraine.  What a beautiful

weekend!  The weather was great, the campground was only about half full, and there were more

trails than the girls had time to ride.

Somehow we managed to fit everything (including the horses) into a 20’ trailer.  That way

we only needed to take one truck down there.  We set up a screen tent for us, and a small corral for the horses.  Jodi and Molly took turns cooking, I mostly ate and did dishes.  Molly also got “poop” duty.  Molly’s boyfriend, Andy came down Sunday and we drove over to Old World Wisconsin where I was intrigued by the intricate gardens.  Molly and I got teased for wanting pictures of the colorful chickens.  As we left, there was a wedding taking place on the grounds.  Andy helped pack up on Monday, and the guys drove home while the girls slept.

The American Warmblood Association had an inspection at nearby Spirit Dance Ranch, so Jodi entered Lasago, Dally, and Alara.  Dally and Lasago earned their brands.  Here Doug shows Cher and Jodi where to trim the hair prior to branding.  Just a bit later, Lasago proudly shows off his new AWS brand.

Been doing a bit  of motorcycling with Steve/Brian and ATVing with Jodi.  Sunday we rode from Suring to Mountain.

A Mourning Dove nest fell from the tree in Jodi’s yard, so she built this makeshift one of straw, put the little guy in it, and soon Momma was taking care of him again.

Today’s the last day of Summer which means my favorite season is beginning.  Looking forward to sunny afternoons, colorful trees, and no bugs!
